INDIVIDUAL TUTORIAL ADVICE

Today in my individual tutorial we discussed the aesthetic and the style I was trying to achieve with my shirt. Tom questioned me on my I was using a chunky white zip rather than a more clean concealed zip. I explained that it was more my style. I feel that so far I haven't fully explained the 'look' I want to be achieving with my shirt. I think I failed to remember that to many people me using Gucci fabric may give an impression that I'm trying to convey a kind of clean cut luxury brand, but this isn't the case at all. The aesthetic I hope to achieve is definitely more of a streetwear look than any other and I think this should be done through the shape and details of the shirt rather than the material itself. I'm using the Gucci material because I love the look of brands monogram and the bootleg scene, the use of the fabric with this shirt is almost ironic and this is enhanced with the pink colour way. Bootlegs popped up in the streetwear scene a couple of years a go now and streetwear icons such as @imran_potato started making and selling bootleg garments and selling them at designer prices. You now see more and more people wearing what in effect is a fake, but it's acceptable. Before it would have been seen as a money thing but now it more about having the style of shirt or trouser you want mixed with your favourite designers monogram.
